Electromagnetic fields

The assessment of risks from Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) is an obligation of the Employer and must evaluate the risks to workers who, due to their specific work activities, are exposed to electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields (such as: induction furnaces, transformers, electrical substations, electrical panels, power lines).

The levels of EMF exposure related to the activities of workers that fall under the responsibility of the Employer must be eliminated or reduced to the values provided by the regulations for the protection of the population.

In accordance with what is stated in Legislative Decree 81/08, Annex XXXVI, the assessment of exposure to electromagnetic fields aims to demonstrate compliance with the limits set by law and, if this is not the case, to demonstrate that all necessary measures have been taken to remain within the limits of electromagnetic fields.

The assessment of risks from EMF (also called non-ionizing radiation) allows for weighing the extent of health and safety risks to workers. The effects of electromagnetic fields can be direct or indirect:

  • The direct effects are those that can be observed immediately.
  • The indirect effects are those related to a lower level of exposure.

The CEM risk assessment service offered by AGE web solutions, through its own technicians and/or qualified partners, consists of consulting for the Risk Assessment of exposure to Electromagnetic Fields. The assessment will be carried out using databases or measurements (using suitable instruments) in accordance with the relevant standards.

The assessment of risks from electromagnetic fields must be updated every 4 years or whenever necessary based on mandatory health surveillance or in the event of changes regarding work structures or equipment. Therefore, the service offered by AGE web solutions concerns the assessment and subsequent revisions.
